Set-Up
Flush & Clean:
Rinse the motor and tail cone area thoroughly with fresh water to remove any sand or grit. Towel dry carefully.Mounting the Boogie:
Secure the Boogie nose-down on a bench so the propeller faces upward. Use a strap or the tow point to stabilize it firmly.
Step-by-Step Procedure
Step 1: Remove the Tail Cone
Use the 3mm ball-nose Allen key to remove the tail cone screws.
Access can be tricky — approach at an angle.
Once removed, inspect and clean the motor shaft.
Step 2: Remove Rear Cap Screws
Locate and remove the six 2.5mm cap screws underneath where the tail cone was mounted.
If screws are seized, apply WD-40 and allow to soak overnight.
Use high-quality Allen keys to avoid stripping the heads.
Step 3: Prepare the Bearing Puller
Place the bearing puller over the motor shaft.
Locate the two M5 threaded holes on the rear motor casing.
Step 4: Separate Rear Housing
Thread each M5 screw in a few turns alternating sides to evenly separate the rear housing.
Apply lubricant to the motor shaft if needed — this can help the bearing slide off smoothly.
Continue until the rear housing is fully removed.
Step 5: Assess the Bearings
Generally, only the rear bearing needs replacement — it sits closest to the water seal.
It’s easier to leave the motor shaft in place, still seated in the front bearing.
Step 6: Replace the Bearing and Seal
Fit the new rear bearing and new seal.
Use grease when installing the seals and bearing.
Ensure correct orientation and fit - image below.
Step 7: Add Mineral Oil
Fill the motor cavity with mineral oil.
This improves cooling and extends bearing life.
Step 8: Reassemble
Slide the bearing and seal assembly back onto the shaft.
Reinstall the rear housing, cap screws, and tail cone.
Tighten all screws securely.
Use blue loctite for the tail cone only.
