First Time Use Guide
Recommended Conditions
For your first few sessions, we highly recommend using the your Boogie in:
Flat, calm water
Away from people, obstacles, boats, chop, and waves
Without offshore winds
Avoid: Large swell, busy areas, strong currents, or going far offshore (e.g., 1km in 6ft waves + offshore wind = recipe for disaster).
Start slow and build confidence.
Before You Begin
Firmware
Ensure both the Boogie and Remote have the latest firmware installed.
Firmware updates are required for warranty and available [here].
Setup
Follow the full setup instructions here before entering the water
Top Shell Inflation
Inflate the top shell to about 1 PSI.
Overinflation will:
Damage the Boogie
Cause poor handling
Result in porpoising
As a guide, 1 PSI is roughly the maximum amount of pressure you can generate by blowing with your mouth.
Ensure the zip is clean, lubed and fully closed. This is absolutely critical. More details on care and usage of the zip can be found here.
On-Land Practice
Remote Unlocking
Press the center button, then within 5 seconds, tap the trigger.
Remote stays unlocked for 10–30 seconds depending on profile.
Remote GPS
It is essential to turn on the Remote on 3–5 minutes before getting in the water.
This allows it to acquire a strong GPS signal, which is required for auto modes.
The remote will not get gps reception in the water - ie turn on and immediately get in the water.
Learn more in the detailed remote guide here.
Transport & Water Entry
Use the trolley to wheel the Boogie into the water.
Ensure it’s deep enough to prevent the prop from hitting the bottom.
Slide the boogie off the back while holding the tow rope, as it drifts away you can give it a tug to make it turn out into the water.
Manual Driving Practice
Start slow. Get a feel for the throttle, turning, and responsiveness at different speeds.
Summon Mode Practice
Drive the Boogie a short distance manually.
Press the center button. The LED flashes green, and the screen shows S (Summon).
Slowly pull the trigger — the Boogie will return to you automatically.
Important: It slows down when approaching but will drive up the beach if you don’t release the trigger. Watch closely.
Thrust Demo
Stand on the beach, hold the tow rope, and gently apply throttle to feel the thrust.
Direction Control Drill
Practice changing the Boogie’s direction:
Tug the rope to make it drift backward.
Then apply a small amount of power.
This is a useful and important skill to master.
Your First Ride on Water
To get the best first-time experience:
Use your biggest and most stable board (e.g., SUP, mid-length, or wing board).
Choose a foil setup you’re already confident riding.
If you can’t get up, you won’t learn anything. Stable and easy wins.
Stick to calm, wide-open water and avoid hazards until you're fully confident in your abilities and in the Boogie.
Tip:
Before applying throttle to start, make sure the rope is tight — slack can cause sudden jerks or instability.
